April
Karen finished second to George Bowman at this
event. Her scores were:

May
Karen finished 5th overall and was the 2nd British driver. Her scores were:

Karen finished 5th
overall and blames herself for the poor result because she put
too much pressure on a new leader. Her scores were:

June
Karen finished 4th
overall and was the 3rd British Driver. Her scores were:

Karen finished 4th
overall and is delighted to have been selected as a member of
the British Team for the World Four-in-Hand Championships.

Beekbergen 24-27
July
Because of her
selection for the British Team, Karen went to Beekbergen,
instead of Erdigg, for some practice against her Continental
rivals. Owing to a 'blond moment' on the marathon and a
problem with a trace in the cones, she finished 19th overall.
Her scores were:
Dressage 57.73 (13th)
Marathon 94.15 (22nd) Cones 5 (18)

World Four-in-Hand
Championship, Beesd September 2008
Unfortunately, one of
Karen's leaders was overwhelmed by the atmosphere in the
dressage arena and they had a disappointing score of 61.82.
She went on to finish 23rd out of 58 competitors, but retained
her title of the World's Leading Lady Four-in-Hand Driver.
Her scores were:
Dressage 61.82 (41st)
Marathon 111.22 (22nd) Cones 3.73 (12th)

Championships, Windsor 12-14 September
Karen finished 3rd at
the Nationals with a total score of 146.88. Her scores

They were
selected for their movement and temperament and all of them are
regularly ridden as well as driven. They are all good to box,
shoe and clip. The two 6yr olds have competed at national
level and the 4yr, 5yr and 7yr olds are now ready to compete.

ABOUT KAREN
BASSETT
Karen Bassett is one of
Britain’s top carriage drivers and has competed as part of
the British Team at the last 6 World Four-in-Hand Carriage
Driving Championships.
She began carriage driving at
the age of 8 and started driving a pony team at the age of
12. Since 1980,
she has won the National Four-in-Hand Pony Team Championship
6 times and the National Four-in-Hand Horse Team
Championship 5 times.
At Saumur in 1995, Karen became
the first lady ever to win an International Four-in-Hand
Carriage Driving competition.
In 1996, Karen was part of the
British Team when they won a Bronze Medal at the World
Championship.
The 2004 World Four-in-Hand
Carriage Driving Championship was a good year for Karen.
She finished 12th overall, was the highest placed
British driver and was the leading lady driver.
At the 2006 World Four-in-Hand Championships,
Karen retained her title as the leading lady driver.
